Ismail Sirdah is a man who has succeeded in multiple kinds of business. Whether it’s his successful restaurant or his music promotion business, his career has been marked for success since the day he set foot in Georgia after immigrating from South Africa. As such, it wouldn’t hurt any aspiring business professional to read his recent interview with the people from IdeaMensch.
Let’s start with his thoughts about mistakes. All of us like to think that we are that person who is always on top of their game, but the reality is that everyone messes up from time to time. Ismail Sirdah says that he actually likes mistakes and that he finds it helpful to embrace them rather than trying to hide them. A lot of people make the mistake of hiding their mistakes because they want to save face. The problem with this is that when something is put out of sight, it tends to be put out of mind.
Elaborating further upon this subject, Mr. Sirdah says that he worked for a catering business when he first moved to Savannah and that it didn’t really work out. He describes it as a very hectic work environment that obviously didn’t suit him. As such, he took a chance and left the company. This would have been a significant risk, but an entrepreneur must not stand still and stagnate. Mr. Sirdah also says that when failure happens, it happens for a reason, so that you will be motivated to move on toward something better.
Mr. Sirdah was asked to name something true that almost nobody agrees with. His answer to this admittedly strange question was to say that an entrepreneur must not be afraid to stray from the beaten track and do different things. According to him, stagnation is the number one thing to avoid.
When asked if there was a business idea that he wanted to share, he said that there needed to be a more efficient way to share pictures between devices without taking up so much room. It’s hard to deny that there is a need for this.
